Reporting and moderation
Report a message, how messages are held for review, and how owners and admins decide reports.
Report a message
#- Open More actions on someone else's message and choose Report message….
- Pick a reason: Spam, Harassment, Hate, Explicit content, Self-harm or Other.
- Optionally add details for the moderators (up to 500 characters), and tick Hide this message for me if you don't want to see it.
- Choose Send report.
The author is never told who reported their message. You can report a message once, and up to 20 messages an hour. Reports of self-harm and harassment also email the workspace's moderators.
Messages held for review
#A workspace's chat policy can filter profanity. When Hold flagged content for review is also on, a message that trips the filter is held: only its author sees it, faded and marked Held for review, and nobody else is notified until a moderator releases it.
The moderation queue
#Workspace owners and admins decide reports in Workspace settings → Moderation. Settings in the navigation shows a count when something is waiting, and moderators get a notification with a Review button.
- Dismiss closes the report and leaves the message as it is.
- Release (held messages only) lets everyone see the message.
- Remove message replaces it for everyone with "Removed by moderation".
- Tick Warn {name} to tell the author a moderator acted on their message.
History shows earlier versions of an edited or deleted message, and Show files opens the photos and files attached to it, even in a conversation you are not in. Decided items move to the Decided tab and stay there for 90 days. Every decision is recorded in the audit log, and so is each time you open a message's history or the files of a conversation you are not in. A new report on a decided message reopens it.
