Files and links
Attach files and photos, the size and storage limits, blocked file types and how long chat history is kept.
Attach files
#- Choose Attach (the paperclip) in the composer and pick one or more files. You can also drag files onto the conversation, or paste a screenshot or copied files into the message box with Ctrl+V (⌘V on a Mac).
- Each file starts uploading right away and shows a progress bar. Choose Remove on a file to drop it.
- Add a message if you like, then press Send. You can send up to 10 files in one message.
Photos (PNG, JPEG, GIF and WebP) show as thumbnails that open full size in a new tab. Other files show as a card with the name and size; select it to download. Only people in the conversation can download its files.
File size and storage limits
#The largest file you can upload is 5 MB on Free, 25 MB on Starter, 25 MB on Business. The workspace's total chat storage is 1 GB on Free, 10 GB on Starter, 100 GB on Business.
- "{name} is too large": the file is over your plan's size limit.
- "Your workspace is out of file storage": the workspace has used all of its storage. Delete old files or change plan.
- "This file type isn't allowed": see Blocked file types below.
You can upload up to 30 files a minute. A file you uploaded but never sent is discarded after a day.
Blocked file types
#When the workspace's chat policy has Scan uploads for malware on (the default), programs and scripts are refused, judged by the file name (read the way your computer will save it, so an extra dot or space at the end doesn't hide the type) and by its content. Examples include .exe, .js, .sh, .py, .apk, .dmg and .iso files. To share one, put it in a shared drive and send the link.
Links
#Web addresses in a message become links. Below the message, CheapMeet shows a small chip with the site name for up to three links. Nothing is fetched from the linked site. Workspaces can turn these chips off in their chat policy (Link previews).
How long messages are kept
#Chat history is kept for 90 days on Free, 1 year on Starter, unlimited on Business. Older messages are deleted with their files, reactions, pins and saved marks.
Messages are deleted a whole calendar month at a time, once every day of that month is past the limit. So on a 90-day plan, a message from early March is deleted at the start of July, once all of March is more than 90 days old.
