Meetings and calls
Guests
People outside your workspace join from a link without an account. How they join, what they can do and how to control it.
How guests join
#- The guest opens the meeting link. They see the meeting title, who is hosting and a camera preview.
- They type Your name (how people will see them) and choose Ask to join.
- They wait with Waiting for the host… until someone lets them in.
Guests always wait for a host, even when the meeting has no waiting room. People signed in to another workspace join as guests too, under their account name. A guest with a CheapMeet account can choose Have an account? Sign in instead.
Let a guest in
#Hosts get a pop-up with Admit, and the guest appears under Waiting in lobby in Participants with Admit and Deny. If no host is in the call, any member in it can admit. See Host controls.
A denied guest sees "The host didn't let you in" and can Ask again.
What guests can do
#| In a meeting, guests can… | Guests can't… |
|---|---|
| Talk, use their camera and raise their hand | Invite people or change settings |
| Use meeting chat when it is available | Send files in chat or see read receipts |
| Open meeting materials | Change the layout or rename the meeting |
| Share their screen or a whiteboard on paid plans | Share on the Free plan |
Guests are labelled Guest on their tile. They don't see the email addresses of other people waiting to join.
Control who can join
#- Workspace-wide: owners and admins set Allow anonymous guests under Workspace settings → General → Meeting defaults. New meetings start with this setting.
- Per meeting: set Allow anonymous guests when scheduling, or in the call with Meeting access at the top of the call (on a phone, under More).
- Invite-only: hosts can turn on Restrict to invited only in the call, so only invited people can join.
If anonymous guests are off, guests see "Guests can't join this meeting: ask the host to invite you, or sign in."
Guest limits
#Each meeting can have up to 2 on Free, 10 on Starter, 40 on Business guests, counted within the meeting's people limit. Guests' minutes count toward the workspace's minutes. When the guest seats are full, more guests see "No guest seats left".
Guest privacy
#A guest's name and details from a call are deleted 30 days after the call ends. A guest's access lasts for the call they were let into (at most six hours), and a guest a host removed can't come back into that call.
