Meetings and calls

Meeting audio by phone

Dial into an enabled meeting, use your own phone for audio, invite someone by phone, and manage phone participants.

When phone audio is available

#

These instructions apply to workspaces where meeting phone access is already enabled. Phone products are a planning preview, not generally on sale yet. A dial-in number or phone control appears only when it is available for that meeting. A Business Phone number is not required to use meeting phone audio.

Phone participants count toward the meeting’s capacity and usage, and follow its admission rules. Meeting phone audio is not emergency calling.

Dial into a meeting

#
  1. Find the dial-in number and Meeting ID in the invitation, meeting details or the lobby’s Join by phone panel.
  2. Call the number. When prompted, enter the numeric Meeting ID followed by #. On a mobile phone, selecting the number in the lobby opens your phone’s dialler.
  3. Follow the spoken instructions. You may wait for the meeting to start or for someone to admit you. After admission, your phone carries the meeting audio.

If the meeting is unavailable, full, or does not allow you to join, follow the spoken message and contact the host. A telephone connection carries audio only; use the browser if you need to see video, chat or shared materials.

Call me

#
  1. Join the meeting in CheapMeet as a workspace member.
  2. Open the device menu beside Mute and choose Use phone for audio….
  3. Enter a US or Canadian phone number and choose Call me.
  4. Answer the call and press 1 when prompted. Your phone becomes your microphone and speaker; keep the browser open for video and meeting controls.

This option is for workspace members in meetings, not anonymous guests or direct calls. If it is unavailable, use browser audio instead. Do not leave both your browser and phone playing the same meeting audio, as that can cause echo.

Invite someone by phone

#

Meeting hosts can open Invite, find Invite by phone, enter a US or Canadian number, and choose Call. The person answers and presses 1 to join. The panel explains if phone invitations are unavailable or the workspace has no phone balance or minutes left.

Only call someone who expects your invitation. The meeting’s participant and guest limits still apply.

Cancel an unanswered invitation

#

Open Participants and find Ringing · not answered yet. Choose Cancel beside the person or phone to stop that invitation. This also hangs up an unanswered phone invitation; it does not end the meeting.

The person who placed the invitation, people allowed to invite others, and the member whose own phone is being called can cancel their applicable rings. Cancel appears only when you can use it.

Mute and unmute phone participants

#

Hosts and workspace members in the call can choose Mute participant on another participant’s menu. For a standalone phone caller, Unmute participant turns their audio back on. Guests cannot mute other people. A member using their own phone for audio keeps their own microphone controls in the app.

A muted phone caller can say “unmute me” to turn their audio back on. While they are muted, CheapMeet converts speech to text only to detect that phrase; the text is not stored. See the Privacy policy.

Only the meeting organizer in the call can choose Mute all in Participants. App participants can unmute themselves afterwards; phone callers can use the voice command or be unmuted from the app.
